Children’s Ministry Wraps Up a Fun-Filled August with Exciting Events and Family Camp
From Move Up Sunday to Olympic-Inspired Games, August Brings Joy and Learning to Church Kid - by Mrs. Nataly Wairdian
August was an exciting month for the children in our church community, filled with events and activities that sparked joy and growth.
The month began with Move Up Sunday on the first Sunday, August 4, where children transitioned into their new grade rooms for Sunday school. Due to the enthusiasm of many students, Sunday school was expanded to include 6th graders, combining 2nd-6th graders in the large youth room.
During the second and third weeks of August, sports and activities were held in the Fellowship Hall, inspired by the Olympics. Led by Ben Dadian and George Semirdjian, children participated in games like soccer, basketball, and musical chairs. These activities offered not only fun and exercise but also valuable lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.
The month ended on a high note with Family Camp during the last week of August. Children engaged in Bible-themed science activities, with the 1-4-year-olds enjoying sensory play such as kinetic sand, playdoh, and motor skill exercises. Meanwhile, the 5-12-year-olds had a blast with experiments like making explosions with diet soda and Mentos in the mud pit, symbolizing how God can make something big out of something small—just as Jesus did with the feeding of the 5,000. They also crafted lava lamps and competed in a pajama relay race, which emphasized the importance of rest and listening to God.
Family Camp offered many other memorable experiences, from bear hunting to zip lining, and even catching bugs in jars crafted during craft time. It was a truly unforgettable weekend, capping off a month filled with joy, learning, and lasting memories for the children and families in our church community.
